EAST Dorset climbed off the foot of Dorset & Wilts One South thanks to a 13-3 victory over Oakmeadians at Meyrick Park.
Sean Simmons scored the only try of the match to help East Dorset register their second win of the season – and a rare triumph over Oaks at Meyrick Park.
Fly-half Tom Robinson slotted over a penalty to give them the lead before East Dorset capitalised on Oaks having a man in the bin at the start of the second half. A break from number eight Nick Darvill was fed wide for Robinson to throw a long miss pass to Simmons who scored in the corner.
East stretched their lead with another penalty before Oaks fought back and reduced the deficit thanks to a penalty.
Coach Henry Stapleton was thrilled with the win and said: “This season has been another tough one. We have just the one side with three players in their first senior season.
“To come and play a club as big as Oaks and punch well above our weight will do wonders for the team and is just what we needed going into the second-half of the season.”
