DOMINIC Pitt's last-gasp try earned Ellingham & Ringwood a dramatic 33-29 victory at Woking in the RFU Junior Vase.

The Es forged into a 28-7 lead before a stirring comeback from Woking saw them edge 29-28 ahead with two minutes remaining.

And Pitt popped up to finish a flowing move to score an unlikely winning try which took the New Forest outfit through to the next round.

The visitors started well with scrum-half Josh Butcher kicking a penalty and wing three-quarter Matt Moore crossing in the corner to give them an 8-0 lead.

A lapse in concentration resulted in Woking scoring a converted try on a rare foray into the Ellingham half before further tries from Jonny Joiner and full-back Pitt put them in the driving seat with Butcher adding a penalty and a conversion to make it 23-7 at the break.

And when captain Callum Butler powered over for another try in the second half, the game appeared over at 28-7.

But Woking had other ideas and, playing with a strong wind at their backs, the hosts stuck to a simple game-plan and began to claw their way into the game with four tries.

After the final try had been converted to give Woking a 29-28 lead, the Es won a scrum from the restart and Pitt went over to save the day.

Meanwhile, two tries from centre Jas Clarke and full-back Emma Lipsett helped Ellingham & Ringwood maintained their 100 per cent record in National Challenge Division Two South with an impressive 48-0 win at Havant.

Further tries came from wing three-quarters Chloe Barrett and Charlotte Smith, scrum-half Paige Darvill-White and centre Anna Stephenson. Barrett also kicked three conversions with the other coming from the boot of Darvill-White.
