CHRIS Tomes's first-half try paved the way for Swanage & Wareham's 17-11 win over Wimborne in the semi-final of the Dorset & Wilts Cup.
Victory for Swans at Leigh Park set up a date with Southern Counties South rivals Trowbridge in the final next month.
Although Wimborne started strongly, Swans flanker Matt Roberts broke clear to the halfway line and a penalty took the visitors into the Wimborne 22.
It eventually led to Swans scrum-half Tomes crossing the whitewash with Phil Graves adding the extras to make it 7-0 after 11 minutes.
Swans continued to press the Wimborne defence and Graves landed a penalty to increase their lead to 10 points.
Tom Moysey's penalty after 36 minutes reduced the arrears to 10-3 before the same player repeated the feat following a high tackle as the Minstermen closed the gap to 10-6 in the 55th minute.
Swans hit back following a series of scrums close to the Wimborne line with the referee awarding them a penalty try which was converted by Graves to make it 17-6.
Wimborne touched down in the closing stages to set up a grandstand finish but Swans held on for victory.
