HEAD coach Will Croker believes Bournemouth have “flattered to deceive” this season and says they must start to find some consistency.

Croker, who is five months into the job, has seen Lions produce a Jekyll-and-Hyde series of results in National Three South West.

Eighth-placed Bournemouth will face a test of their promotion credentials when they host table-toppers Brixham at Chapel Gate tomorrow (2pm).

Lions’ unpredictability has been highlighted in their past two games – with victory over then-leaders Barnstaple followed by defeat at mid-table Ivybridge.

Currently nine points behind Brixham, Bournemouth close 2015 with a visit to Newton Abbot and a home match against Cleve with Croker insisting it will be an important period.

Although Lions have won four of their past six games, Croker says they should have done better: “To be honest, I wouldn’t say it was a good run and we are flattering to deceive at the moment.

“We are much better than most of the teams we have played but we can’t seem to string together a run of results.

“If we were to beat Brixham, we could go fourth and, if we were to win our next two games, we could go second. It is a really tight league.

“The team which strings together a run of four or five wins on the bounce will suddenly really stake a claim.

“We need to be more consistent and there needs to be more belief among the players.

“They are such a talented bunch and incredibly good guys and players. But I don’t think they have realised yet how good they could be. We have as coaches and that is frustrating.”
