Ellingham & Ringwood were victims of their own downfall as they suffered an 18-15 defeat at the hands of Chipstead in the RFU Junior Vase.

A superb first-half showing saw them reach the break locked at 8-8 following a try from wing three-quarter Chris Frost and a penalty by full-back Josh Butcher.

But despite having the wind behind them after the break, a lack of discipline at the contact area saw Ellingham conceded numerous penalties.

However, despite losing two players to yellow cards, they won a turn-over and Frost scored a great individual try which Butcher converted to give them a 15-13 lead.

But they continued to give away penalties and paid the price when their opponents from Surrey Division One went over for the winning try late on.

Prop forward Abbie Awdas crashed over for two second-half tries to help Ellingham & Ringwood women secure a 15-0 win against Hornettes in National Challenge South West Division One.

Injury and unavailability saw Ellingham & Ringwood take just 15 players to Weston-super-Mare but scrum-half Paige Darvill-White went over in the corner at the end of the first half to give them a 5-0 lead at the break.

And Awdas put the seal on a hard-earned away league victory thanks to her second-half double.
