HIGH-flying East Dorset’s 64-24 win over Dorchester IIs was marred by the injury of their inspirational skipper Cellum Dutton.

Dutton suffered a broken leg and ankle ligament damage in the Dorset & Wilts Two fixture at Dorchester’s Coburg Road ground.

East’s coaches Stu Wilson and Chris Culleton reshuffled their side after other injuries had weakened their defence.

Jordan McAndrew led the visitors points’ charge with a hat-trick of tries, while James Shaw scored his first for the club.

The victory kept the Iford-based club 15 points clear at the top of the table and within two matches of sealing the championship title.

  • Mike Wood scored a consolation try as Ellingham & Ringwood suffered a 64-5 defeat at the hands of London Division Three South West rivals Old Tiffinians.

The injury-hit Es started badly and found themselves 45-0 down at half-time before Wood capped a spirited second-half showing from the team by getting them on the scoresheet.

  • Full-back Jonny Owen took the man-of-the-match plaudits for his display during bottom-placed Ellingham & Ringwood II’s 39-17 defeat against Bridport in Dorset Division Two.

Tries from wing three-quarter Michael Moody and fly-half Oli Harvey, coupled with a conversion from Aaron Barker, helped the Es establish a 12-5 half-time lead.

However, they were forced to make a number of changes at the break due to injury and Bridport came back to forge 17-12 ahead.

And although centre Adrian Edwards scored a good try to level the scores at 17-17, a strong finish from Bridport in the final 20 minutes saw them take a bonus point win.
