CHARLIE Parish posted a try-of-the-season contender to help Swanage & Wareham record a 41-24 victory over North Dorset at Bestwall.

On the stroke of half-time, Parish chipped and collected from his own 10-metre line before running more than 50 metres to score in the corner.

Jay Westcar had earlier got North Dorset off and running against the runaway Southern Counties South leaders with a try out wide, which was converted by Sam Baker.

However, Swans prop John Sheldrake went over to reduce the arrears.

Baker and Callum Baird traded successful penalties before the hosts forged 15-10 ahead after Chris Tomes’s try had been converted by Parish.

Parish’s party piece – which he converted – saw Swans extend their lead before wing Charlie Rowberry’s try after the break, converted by Parish, saw them go further ahead.

Joe Desmond worked his way over the line for a converted try before Rowberry outpaced the defence to put Swans 41-10 up.

The visitors completed the scoring with two converted tries in the final six minutes.

However, Swans were comfortable victors in the final reckoning and maintained their 14-point advantage at the top of the table.

Elsewhere in the division, Wimborne suffered a 21-12 defeat at home to Frome.

Swans: Baird, Parry, Roberts, Graves, Rowberry, Parish (Stephens, 62), Tomes, Sheldrake, Elford, Wyburgh, Pring, Penney, Corsie (Scott, 53), Jones (Dennett, 62), Desmond.

  • Ellingham & Ringwood were left to rue two sin-bins in the lead-up to half-time as they were beaten 28-3 at Eastleigh in London Three South West.

With the score locked at 0-0 after 35 minutes, Ben Warren and Andy Turner were yellow-carded in separate incidents.

Lock Warren was binned for an apparently illegal tackle while number eight Turner was given the same treatment after collapsing a maul.

With a two-man advantage, the hosts scored two push-over tries in the dying moments of the first period.

After the restart, an Ali Bennett penalty reduced the deficit but Eastleigh put their foot on the pedal and ran out comfortable winners.

  • Dorset & Wilts One South leaders Dorset Dockers lost 21-18 to fellow high-fliers Sherborne II, while Oakmeadians won 20-17 at Frome II.

Lytchett Minster, meanwhile, triumphed 29-0 at North Dorset II and Poole thrashed South Wilts 61-0.
