SOUTHERN Counties South pacesetters Swanage & Wareham stormed into the Christmas break with a 29-5 win at home to Frome.

Victory enabled Swans to maintain their grip on top spot with the Bestwall outfit having dropped just one point to date this season.

The home team exerted early pressure and second-row Darren Penney charged over to score close to the posts, before Charlie Parish added the extras.

A catch-and-drive move put captain Robert Elford over before the visitors’ Des Kruger responded with a try soon after the break.

Swans were soon 19-5 ahead when Charlie Rowberry outpaced the defence and scored close to the posts, with Parish adding the conversion.

Home scrum-half Chris Tomes worked his way over for a bonus-point try before Freddie Strange put the polish on victory late on.

Swans manager Tom Dillon said “I must praise all the players for their performance so far this season. While some players steal the headlines, it is a team game and all players have contributed superbly.”
