BOURNEMOUTH suffered another bout of away-day disappointment in National Three South West as they were beaten by Old Patesians.

Crispin Cormack’s men still have just one victory away from Chapel Gate this season following an 18-10 loss in Gloucestershire.

Lions are rapidly losing ground on sides in the top half of the table and Old Patesians’ win allowed them to close in on the Dorset side and end a run of five straight defeats.

Ninth in the standings, just three points separates Bournemouth from second-bottom Old Redcliffians, while Chard are cut adrift at the bottom.

On an extremely wet pitch, Lions found themselves five points down early in Saturday’s clash at Everest Road following an unconverted try.

Old Pats missed a penalty and fly-half Lewis Dennett slotted a kick between the uprights to reduce the home advantage to 5-3 at the interval.

Following the resumption, Old Pats increased the pressure and kept the scoreboard ticking over, the hosts taking a commanding 18-3 lead.

There was still time for Lions to grab a consolation score, however, when Sam Hardcastle crossed over and Jon Sanchez added the extras.

Bournemouth will hope to get back on track this weekend when they entertain Old Redcliffians at Chapel Gate.
