SWANAGE & Wareham put Midsomer Norton to the sword and maintained their 100 per cent winning record in Southern Counties South.

Charlie Rowberry was the hat-trick hero as the home side ran in 10 tries in a 60-5 triumph at Bestwall, which enabled them to remain ahead of Wimborne at the top of the standings.

Centre Matt Roberts got matters up and running when he touched down under the posts after being fed by Karl Barton. Charlie Parish added the extras.

Another break through the middle allowed Kirk Jones to score a second converted try, before fly-half Parish ran in for a simple third score.

Parish’s conversion made it 21-0 and a subsequent Rowberry try from 40 metres out gave Swans their bonus point with less than 24 minutes played.

Two more tries came before the interval, one for Rowberry and one for Barton, as the home side stormed into a 38-0 lead.

Swans made two changes at half-time and continued their dominance after the interval.

Following a five-metre lineout and a couple of phases, centre Mike Cottrell crossed the whitewash and replacement David Elford landed the conversion.

Midsomer Norton finally got on the scoresheet with a try of their own but on the hour normality resumed as Barton broke clear to score his second.

With five minutes remaining, Joe Desmond cantered in for try number nine before Rowberry completed his hat-trick.

Swans manager Tom Dillon said: “I can only be full of praise for the players as they all played with enthusiasm.

“Even though Midsomer Norton were not a strong side, we did not slacken off and maintained concentration until the end of the game.”
