ELLINGHAM & Ringwood’s charge for a top-three finish in London Three South & West suffered a setback on Saturday with a late 32-30 defeat at struggling Old Cranleighans.
The visitors, fielding a side weakened by injury and unavailability, led by a single point with five minutes to play but were pegged back by a successful penalty kick in the dying stages.
Tries from Adam Payne, Dominic Pitt, Ryan Sellwood and captain Duncan Soden gave the E’s a bonus point, while veteran fly-half Andy Weeks kicked two penalties and two conversions.
The result saw Ellingham & Ringwood secure two bonus points but it could have been so much more, leaving them five points shy of third-placed Eastleigh in the league standings.
In Dorset & Wilts One South, Oakmeadians won 17-13 at Bridport, while in Two South, Lytchett Minster completed a 29-0 victory at Dorchester II thanks to tries from Lewis Mitchell, Fred Perry, Rob Ansell and Alex Wilson.
Dorset Dockers won 34-12 at Weymouth, while Poole beat North Dorset III 19-12.
