TONIGHT sees Salisbury Racecourse host its biggest event of the year – Ladies’ Evening.

The seven-race card has attracted an initial entry of 170 horses and with the weather set fair, hopes are high that the majority will take their chance.

The card features two maidens – the Bathwick Tyres British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes and the Jack Pack Here On 21st Of August Maiden Stakes – and five handicaps, including the feature race, the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners Ladies’ Evening Fillies’ Handicap.

The Netherhampton venue expects more than 6,500 attendees for Salisbury’s most glamorous evening and has attracted some exciting and exclusive prizes for the winners in the best dressed competition.

Twenty finalists will be selected by three judges and each will compete in eight categories including best hat and most exotic outfit.

The best dressed lady prize is worth more than £1,000 and the lucky winner will enjoy a shopping spree, a spa membership and a luxury night away for two amongst other desirable prizes.

Clerk of the course Jeremy Martin said: “Westover Ladies’ Evening has, in recent years, become Salisbury’s principle raceday and generates the most interest locally and beyond.

“We expect an adult attendance in excess of 6,500 people. Many women dress up for the occasion, and, as usual, there will be some excellent prizes on offer.

“All being well, it will be a fine evening weather-wise, with some exciting racing to enjoy.”

Gates open at 4pm and the first race is at 6pm.
