POOLE’S match racing girls got back to winning ways yesterday.

The trio of Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Kate Macgregor saw off the challenge of Sweden to head into today’s rest day tied fifth overall in the round robin phase of the competition, with a 55 per cent win ratio.

Lush admitted the team had been “disappointed” with their performance on Wednesday, when they slipped to two losses just a day after picking up two race wins.

But ‘MacLush’ were much more pleased with their showing against Anna Kjellberg, Malin Källström and Lotta Harrysson yesterday.

Lush said last night: “It was a good day today with some good racing in the sunshine.

“It was a nice consistent race which we were in control of for the duration, although it was quite close with the big puffy conditions.

“But we managed to stay in control the whole race and came through with the win.”

Lucy Macgregor added: “We have had five days competing now and it will be good to have a day off, recharge the batteries a little and be able to focus on winning our next two races on Saturday.

Kate Macgregor said: “This regatta has been a little different, as everyone has had mixed results apart from the Australians who are at the top of their game.

“It’s still the same people and we can learn from our mistakes and we are definitely still feeling confident.”

The girls are set for their final two round robin races tomorrow, with the knockout stage for the top eight boats commencing on Wednesday.
