The level of competition in our event has really stepped up a notch with the Games on the horizon.

We could tell that from the action at the recent Sail for Gold regatta at the Olympic venue.

In all the classes, every team made it quite an important event because it was in Weymouth and it offered the last big opportunity to race there prior to the Games. The women’s match racing winners, Australia, have been a strong team for a while but they have improved a lot very quickly.

They are a relatively new trio and they have improved over the past couple of months.

It was clear that people had been putting in a lot of hard work and I think the standard has gone up right the way through the fleet.

We finished fifth at Sail for Gold and we are still aiming to make sure we are in that top group. We are just trying to nail down how best to beat our rivals, while also making sure we sail a good, clean race ourselves.

As we are based in Weymouth, we have been back there this week to continue our training programme.

We also had our Olympic kit collection day so now we have all of our clothing ready for the Games.

The next thing on our agenda is the World Championships and we are heading for Sweden to begin that regatta on Monday. We look forward to updating you on our progress next week. Thanks for your support.
