Life at the moment is very exciting as we are involved in a number of Maritime Mix – London 2012 Cultural Olympiad by the Sea projects.

I was born in Bournemouth and I am very proud of this area and how creatively we present ourselves to the rest of the UK.

I am also keen for my students to get involved in as many real live projects as possible.

A number of my colleagues and I are co-ordinating the costume designs and I am the education co-ordinator for Breathe and Moving Tides.

Breathe is part of the opening celebrations taking place on Weymouth Beach from July 26-28.

The students have created an amazing collection of costumes made from recycled materials and interesting textures.

The Moving Tides Procession will welcome the Olympic flame to Weymouth on the July 12.

For this project I am working closely with the carnival steering group to co-ordinate a huge community project.

The AUCB’s involvement includes students designing fantastical costumes and making them in a series of workshops in local schools.

The procession will have approximately 700 children in it and on the day our BA make-up students will have the huge task of painting a number of little faces for the crowds to see.

Working on something which is real and seeing your costumes transform from 2D to 3D for a live performance is such an important part of their learning and what a better place to learn these skills, develop their CVs and work with some amazing professional and community groups.
