Milan misery for Lee
Lee James
Lee James

LUCKLESS Lee James missed out an Italian Open payday by just one shot in Milan today.

The Parkstone-based touring professional has now failed to make the halfway cut in his past six events.

"I knew I needed a birdie on my final hole, but hooked my second shot into the water," explained James. "I managed to get up and down for a par but I knew that wasn't going to be enough."

James finished on three under par after rounds of 70 and 71.

But James is hoping he can carry over his improvement into next week's Irish Open.

"I'm hitting the ball well and my putting seems to be coming back so hopefully it will all come together next week," he said.

Robert Karlsson was the halfway leader on 15 under par.
