DORSET star Georgia Hall produced an impressive opening round to put herself in contention at the Oates Vic Open.
The 21-year-old began the defence of her Ladies' European Tour order of merit crown with a round of 70 at 13th Beach Golf Links, near Melbourne.
Starting on the 10th hole of the Creek course, birdies on both par fives at the 17th and 18th holes meant the world number 40 reached the turn one under par.
And a front nine consisting of four birdies and two bogeys meant Wimborne-based Hall signed for a three-under-par opening round and a place in the top four.
The early pace was set by America’s Beth Allen, who carded a bogey-free 67 to top the leaderboard on six under.
Hall is set to begin her second round at 1.40am UK time alongside playing partners Su Oh and Cheyenne Woods, who is one off the lead.
