GEORGIA Hall admits the chance to play under the leadership of Annika Sorenstam makes her desire to reach the Solheim Cup even greater.

Ten-time Major winner Sorenstam, widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers in the history of the women's game, is due to captain Europe in Iowa in August.

And with Wimborne-based Hall leading the Solheim Cup rankings, she hopes she can do enough to represent Europe when they lock horns with the United States.

Hall said: "I’ve never met Annika Sorenstam but she was my idol growing up and the way she played was incredible.

"When I heard she was the captain, I thought 'I’ve got to try my best to get into that team'.

"It’s amazing to play in the Solheim Cup but for her to be the captain adds a bit of a bonus for me.

"I really enjoyed playing in the Junior Solheim Cup, it was one of my best experiences as an amateur. I really love match play and always have done.

"It was definitely my strongest format as an amateur as I won the British ladies' and British girls' titles.

"I really enjoy the competitiveness of match play and playing one-on-one. Also in foursomes and fourballs, it’s nice to be part of a team."

Hall was speaking to the Ladies' European Tour.
