DORSET'S Georgia Hall is set to head to Texas for warm-weather training – with close friend Hayley Davis her host.

The duo are former Canford Kids and both have reason to practise with important events coming up.

Off the back of a 53rd-placed finish at the Honda LPGA Thailand, Hall is heading to the World Ladies' Championship in China in a fortnight while Ferndown Golf Club's Davis is poised to kick off her Symetra Tour campaign.

But first they will put in some hard hours of practice in the city of Waco.

Explaining the reasons for her trip across the Atlantic, Hall told the Daily Echo: "The weather is dreadful here and you can hardly do anything – it's so cold!

"I'm going to see Hayley and it will be nice to have some sun as I think it is about 28 degrees over there."

Hall kicked off her season against a monstrously tough field of 70 players at Siam Country Club having received an invite to the £1.3million event.

The former Oakmead College pupil had been one over par heading into the weekend and she banked two level-par rounds of 72 to complete her week's work.

The tournament was won by Amy Yang on 22 under, who was five shots clear of fellow South Korean So Yeon Ryu.

Hall, who earned £145,000 on the Ladies' European Tour last year, said: "It was very different to the LET, the golf course was a lot longer and the placement of the pins was a lot harder.

"I played really well, I just couldn't get used to the greens. There were slopes everywhere. I wasn't matching my line and pace very well so that let me down a tiny bit but my long game was really good.

"The field was really strong and it was my first tournament with new clubs so all in all, it was a good week."
