DORSET golf sensation Georgia Hall admitted everything had “glued together” as she set the women’s course record at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club yesterday.

Hall stormed to the top of the leaderboard after carding no fewer than eight birdies in her bogey-free 64 during the second round of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi.

The 20-year-old, who was 10th on the order of merit going into the tournament, finished at 10 under-par after shooting a two-under 70 in her first round.

Overnight frontrunner Olafia Kristinsdottir from Iceland added a 66 to her first round 65 to reclaim pole position and takes a three-shot lead into the final two rounds.

Wimborne-based Hall shares second place with France’s Gwladys Nocera, Beth Allen from America and fellow Englishwomen Holly Clyburn.

“It’s only halfway through but I’m definitely confident,” said Hall, who is still on the hunt for her first LET victory.

“I’m very happy because there were no bogeys and I played really well. Everything glued together and I had fun out there.

“I didn’t think of my score at all. I was just trying to make birdie after birdie.

“Everything was good. I missed one fairway and one green and had 27 putts. Everything came together and I stayed focused, which I was happy about.”

Hall, whose only previous visit to Abu Dhabi came in a Daily Telegraph junior event when she was 12, added: “The course is great. There are some long and tough holes out there but there are birdie opportunities.

“It’s in great condition and the greens are great. There is a lot of grain on them, so you have to take that into consideration. The weather is perfect, so it’s good.”

Asked whether there had been any stand-out birdies, she said: “On 16 and 17, I hit it to three foot. I had a couple of par fives where I had two putts and I holed some good 20-footers for birdie, so I think I had four or five birdies within a four-foot mark, so my approach shots were really good.”
