DORSET performance coach Dan Frost is set to leave his position at the the end of 2016 after five years in charge.

Since joining in 2011, Frost has played a pivotal role in developing the county's elite golfers into some of the best players in the country.

All of his under-18 team players now boast a handicap of scratch or better, with several competing at national and international level.

His most notable successes have been in youth development. Frost leaves the Dorset under-16 squad with a 100 per cent win record over the past three years.

“It has been an absolute pleasure helping Dorset’s young players develop,” said Frost, who coaches out of a high-tech indoor studio at Playgolf.

“The results speak for themselves but, ultimately, the credit has to go to the players for their outstanding work ethic, willingness to learn and skill acquisition.”

Among Frost's success stories is Steffen Foley, the European Junior Open Champion.

“Speaking on behalf of all the squad players, I’d like to thank Dan for his hard work and dedication,” said Foley.

“What makes Dan different from other coaches is the way he has forged a personal relationship with every player on the teams.

"He understands us and knows when to press the right buttons, whether it’s a technical adjustment or more complex mental challenges, he has the skill to affect change.”

Frost plans to focus more heavily on working with elite-level golfers, splitting his time between travelling on the European Tour and developing his successful learning aid, the Sure-Set, as it launches in the United States.

“I wish the county good luck for the future and hope more silverware comes their way,” added Frost.

“I am sure that under the new coaching structure, development will continue to flow as the county moves into a new era.”
