DORSET’S Georgia Hall will be in exalted company when she takes her chance in the Ricoh Women’s British Open, which starts at Turnberry tomorrow.

Hall, who came through final qualifying to earn her place, has been paired with seven-time Major winner Karrie Webb and In Gee Chun, one of the tournament favourites.

Webb, 40, became the first player to win the British Open three times when she came from three strokes behind to clinch victory at Turnberry in 2002.

Australia’s most successful female pro golfer and one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, Webb has won 41 times on the LPGA Tour, more than any other active player.

South Korean sensation Chun makes her first appearance in the tournament fresh from winning the US Women’s Open at Lancaster last month.

The 20-year-old, who is ninth in the world rankings, has also won four times on the Korean LPGA Tour and once on the Japan LPGA Tour this season.

Bournemouth-based Hall has made a fine start to her first season as a fully-fledged professional and is currently 42nd on the Ladies European Tour rankings, having banked 24,771 euro from her first six events.

A keen Cherries follower, Hall, who missed the cut at the US Women’s Open last month, will compete in her fifth Major at Turnberry.

As an amateur, she shared the silver medal with Lydia Ko at the British Open at St Andrews in 2013 and turned pro after finishing tied 29th at Royal Birkdale last year.

She competed in her first Major – the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills in California – just days after her 17th birthday in April 2013.

Hall, Webb and Chun are among the early starters in tomorrow’s first round and will tee off at 7.25am on the Ailsa course.
