GEORGIA Hall is hoping she can continue her impressive record on links courses as she bids to book an early spot at the Women’s British Open.

The Bournemouth star this morning began her campaign at the 500,000 euro Scottish Open at Dundonald Links.

Hall, who is 44th in the Ladies European Tour order of merit, could book her passage to Turnberry through a number of means, including finishing in the top three on Sunday.

And should she not qualify this weekend, Hall would have an additional chance to reach the British Open at final qualifying at Irvine Golf Club on Monday, where Parkstone amateur Sophie Keech and Brokenhurst Manor’s Liz Young are also set to compete.

Former Oakmead College pupil Hall shared the silver medal at the 2013 British Open and finished tied-29th last year, her final tournament as an amateur.

And she is keen to swiftly return to the famous tournament as a professional.

Hall told the Daily Echo: “I will try and get in the top three at the Scottish Open so I don’t have to go to final qualifying for Turnberry.

"My favourite courses are links, which I rarely get to play, so I’m really excited to take part this weekend.

“In the past, my results have been pretty good on links courses. I won the British ladies and the British girls and I’ve finished in quite good positions in the two British Opens I’ve played in.

“For me, weather is a part of golf and I enjoy the challenges that the conditions bring.”

Young is also competing at the Scottish Open in a field that includes world number two Lydia Ko and two-time Major winner Suzann Pettersen.
