EUROPRO Tour star Luke Joy has won his first event on Middle East soil after a play-off victory in the Dubai Creek Open.

The 26-year-old Broadstone touring professional parred the second extra hole to beat New Zealander Trevor Marshall in sudden-death.

The two players had carded five-under-par 209 totals after regular play, with both scoring 68s in their final rounds.

Joy, however, emerged victorious after finding the green in regulation, while Marshall found the water for a double bogey.

“It feels fantastic to win my first tournament in my first appearance in the Middle East,” said Joy, who has finished second and third in 14 appearances on the Europro Tour this season.

“It wasn’t an easy course to score on, so I’m very pleased with my performance and hope more success will follow soon.”

Joy has also progressed to the next phase of the European Tour Qualifying School after tieing 11th at Roxburghe earlier this month.

Dorset’s Lee James also qualified by finishing sixth at Frilford Heath today.
