CHRIS Tyrrell’s Open qualifying adventure came to an end at Hillside Golf Club in Southport yesterday.
The 34-year-old, who qualified for the final stage in a play-off at Remedy Oak last Monday, carded rounds of 80 and 77 for a 13-over-par total.
Tyrrell was among 12 players to progress from the Dorset course to play in one of the four final qualifying events.
The New Forest club professional had described his dash back to Remedy Oak to take part in the six-man play-off for five spots as “like a scene out of Batman and Robin.”
There were only three places available for the main event at Royal Liverpool on July 13-20 from each of the four final qualifying courses – Hillside, Gailes Links, Sunningdale New and Woburn.
Tyrrell, who lives in Charminster, was 19 shots off the qualifying mark.
