BOURNEMOUTH University student Richard Warren is encouraging disabled people in Dorset to get into golf – the sport which has helped him deal with cerebral palsy.
The 20-year-old has played the game since he was seven and shared his experiences at a Feel Inspired day at Canford Magna Golf Club on Sunday.
Warren, who is studying for a degree in sports management and has a handicap of 34, said: “My dad thought I would never be able to hit a golf ball because of my balance, but the rest is history.
“I feel that golf has allowed me to grow as a person through meeting new people and allowing me to compete on an equal basis with able-bodied golfers.”
In July, Warren will volunteer on the tournament team at the Ladies European Masters at Buckinghamshire Golf Club.
He has also been selected to be a marshal at the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in September.
