We'll be ready for league says Riley
BOSS: Steve Riley
BOSS: Steve Riley

BASHLEY boss Steve Riley has vowed to get his side firing on all cylinders by the start of the Southern League campaign.

The New Forest outfit have made a dreadful start to pre-season, losing their opening two matches against lower league opposition - 4-2 against Wimborne Town and 2-0 against Poole Town.

But Riley, who has overseen a hugely successful period in the club's history, is refusing to panic.

He said: "We just need to start showing a bit more quality all around the park and get the basics right.

"There's no panicking, I don't want anybody panicking. Wimborne and Poole Town have got some good young players and they're good teams.

"Tommy (Killick) and Christer (Warren) have got well-organised sides and I'm pleased for them.

"We'll develop in the next few weeks and be ready for August 16 - no doubt.

"We don't need supporters getting disillusioned. The games we've had have been to find out about players but the works starts tomorrow."

Bash host Southern League South and West side Didcot Town at the Recreation Ground tomorrow (3pm), and Riley is aiming to give the home faithful something to cheer about.

"We'll put everything right tomorrow and give the crowd a good performance," said Riley.

"We're saving it for Didcot tomorrow."

Riley was forced into a rebuilding job during the close-season when Ryan Moss, Craig Davis and Danny Smith left the club.

The Bash manager is currently trying out various trialists, as well as attempting to bed-in new signings Joe Fisher, Charlie Knight and Nic Eastham.
