Crutchley stars for Priory
DELIGHT FOR DAN: Graham Kemp
DELIGHT FOR DAN: Graham Kemp

DAN Crutchley was the two-goal hero as Christchurch finished their league campaign on a winning note.

Graham Kemp's side, playing their final Wessex Premier Division match of the season at Hamble on Saturday, ran out comfortable winners.

And Crutchley, who Kemp heaped praise on earlier this season, scored twice from central midfield, with former Bashley player James Burden also among the scorers.

"I was really pleased for Dan Crutchley," Priory boss Kemp told the Daily Echo.

"I moved him to central midfield for the last few games.

"It shows you get out what you put in because he's been exemplary for us this season. Everyone was genuinely delighted for him."

The Hurn Bridge outfit lie in 14th place but could finish as low as 16th after an inconsistent campaign.

But Kemp said: "We've got 50 points and that's quite a good return for a club which doesn't pay a penny.

"It was the best performance in a long time.

"I played all the young lads and they acquitted themselves brilliantly."

Kemp has already re-signed 15 of this season's squad, and he is aiming to recruit some quality additions to add strength in depth.

Christchurch: Collins, Costello (Dand, 75), Taylor, Linpow, Dillon, Crutchley, Borthwick, Rolph (Rideout, 70), Burden, Cook (Manning, 75), Burrows.
