Gamble injury setback as Bash draw
STRIKER Mark Gamble was carried off with a knee injury during Bashley ’s 0-0 draw against Premier Division new boys Gosport Borough at Privett Park.
Gamble caught his studs in the turf on the stroke of half-time and could be facing a spell on the sidelines.
Bashley salvaged some pride following their 6-0 drubbing by Hemel Hempstead on Saturday and could have taken all three points but for an inspired display from Gosport goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore, who denied James Stokoe on three occasions.
Bash: Prodomo, Smith, Oliver, Strickland, Middleton, Richardson, Casey, Hill (Lompato-Pires, 66), Stokoe, Gamble (Green, 45), Knight. Unused subs: Green, Gazzard, Speechley-Price, Kearn (g/k).
New Milton were knocked out of the Wessex Cup by Alresford after extra-time. The two Premier Division outfits were level at 2-2 in normal time, before the visitors netted a winner.
Christchurch will be bidding to maintain their 100 per cent winning start to the season when they host Horndean in the second round of the Wessex League Cup tonight (7.45pm). Priory registered the first of their six successive wins at Horndean on the opening day before a 2-1 victory over AFC Fawley saw them progress in the League Cup.
