FA Cup: Big financial boost for Priory

CHRISTCHURCH took a vital step towards building their new changing rooms thanks to a 5-0 FA Cup demolition of Cowes Sports.

A double from Ben Osborne, together with strikes from Russell Cook, James Burden and Harry Cornick, proved more than enough to win yesterday’s extra preliminary round tie at Hurn Bridge .

The victory added £1,000 in prize money to the Christchurch coffers and another home success over Alresford Town in the next round would cover a key cost of their changing room project.

Manager Graham Kemp said: “The chairman said that if we could win two games, we would have enough for a roof on the new changing rooms.”

Discussing the match, Kemp added: “We were 4-0 up at half-time and, in the second half, it was a little bit frustrating, but it is difficult at 4-0 up.

“We had won the game by half-time.”

Priory: Collins, Yelland, Legg, Crutchley, Lloyd (Newman, 70), Burden, Smith, Griffin, Osborne (Kittle, 55), Roberts, Cook (Cornick, 55). Unused subs: Taylor, Cullen.
