POOLE Town have received a small fine for their part in the Michael Walker tapping-up row, the Echo understands.
Wimborne Town formally accused their fierce Wessex League rivals of illegally approaching the talented defender in January. Walker eventually quit Cuthbury for Tatnam and it was the nature of the talks he was alleged to have held with Poole manager Tom Killick that sparked controversy.
Speaking at the time of the complaint, Wimborne chairman Ken Stewart described the approach as “completely out of order” and claimed Dolphins only submitted an official seven-day notice once Walker had already agreed terms.
But now the issue has been concluded, the details of the outcome are unclear. Dorset Football Association’s Jon Fancy, a secretary and discipline administrator, yesterday said: “The matter has been resolved. I can’t tell you the decision.”
However, Echo sources suggest that Dolphins received a small fine for the misdemeanour.
Meanwhile, reigning Premier Division champions Poole, who are going head-to-head for the title with Wimborne, continue their bid to retain their crown when they visit Winchester City tomorrow.
“I think it is going to be a hard game but I’ve looked at our remaining games and we genuinely haven’t got one I would describe as straightforward,” said Killick.
Aaron Skelton is out and Trefor Smith is set to boost his match fitness by playing for the club’s reserves, but Taffy Richardson returns to the squad.
Long-term injury victim Chris Smith, brother of Trefor and ex-Dolphin Pete, is also set to play for Poole’s second string after recovering from knee surgery.
Poole Town: (from) Jones, Poore, Lloyd, Walker, Gill, Whitley, Preston, Hubbard, Sturgess, Dovell, Brown, Gates, S Smith, Dibba, Cook, Richardson.

He is worth every PENNY! Was it an illegal approach, was it as bad as not paying your taxes? Perhaps WTFC could publish exactly how much they do owe the Taxman as I have seen figures in the press vary from £20K to £70K. Are you still sure you can afford Step 5 football let anlone step 4?
