BASHLEY manager Steve Riley is hoping the capture of Mark Gamble goes some way to making up for the departure of star striker Richard Gillespie.
Recreation Ground goalscoring legend Gillespie last month sealed a move to Blue Square South outfit Eastleigh.
With fellow forward Ryan Moss also unlikely to return next season, Riley looked short of attacking options.
But he moved quickly to sign Gamble from Southern League Premier Division rivals Farnborough.
“It certainly softens the blow of losing Richard,” Riley told the Echo.
“But when you lose a player of Richard Gillespie’s calibre you’ve got to try to get someone in who’s a proven goalscorer.
“I think everybody will be pleased and, when they see Mark play, they’ll realise he’s a good striker.”
Gamble, 22, netted 14 goals in 35 appearances for Farnborough last term.
