POOLE Town have been relegated from National South despite today producing a 2-0 home victory over Oxford City.
Goals from James Constable and Steve Devlin meant Dolphins put themselves in contention to escape the drop on the final day of the season.
But with Tom Killick’s side needing to record a better result than fellow relegation candidates Hungerford Town, there was nothing they could do as the Crusaders won 1-0 at East Thurrock to send down Dolphins.
Nicholas Bignall’s 37th minute goal meant Hungerford kept their National South status and Poole returned to the Southern League.
- Wimborne Town dazzled with a 5-0 win over Slimbridge at Cuthbury to ensure they would be at home in Wednesday’s Southern League West play-off semi-final.
Toby Holmes struck a late double to go with goals from Louis Kellaway, Luke Holmes and Matt Oldring.
Magpies, who finished third in the table, host sixth-place Didcot Town in the play-offs on Wednesday.
