CHRISTCHURCH'S bid to secure the Wessex One title took a minor dent as they were held to a 2-2 draw by fellow promotion hopefuls Laverstock & Ford last night.

A penalty in the sixth minute of added time from Adam Bourner, awarded after Grant Cormack had handled, earned the hosts a deserved share of the points.

Priory thought they had snatched it when Jon Blake hooked home the loose ball after his header had come back off the post six minutes from time.

Scott Joyce had given the visitors the interval lead, the striker bagging his first goal since returning to the club with a well-directed header from a James King cross after 30 minutes.

Priory defender Kieran Douglas was forced off following a nasty clash of heads with Lavvy's Danny Finnigan before Tom Mundy's stunning volley made it 1-1 in the 69th minute.

The draw kept table-topping Christchurch eight points ahead of fourth-placed Lavvy and seven clear of AFC Stoneham – their opponents at Hurn Bridge on Saturday – and Andover New Street.

Meanwhile, Lee Vint's double proved in vain for Ringwood Town as they succumbed to a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Totton & Eling at Little Testwood Park.

Manny Soetan's late winner earned Sydenhams Wessex Premier leaders Andover Town a 2-1 victory against Poppies at Victoria Park.

Soetan, who had plundered a six-minute hat-trick in the Bluebirds' 4-1 win at Hamworthy United on Saturday, opened the scoring three minutes into the second half.

And although Nasim Meddah struck just two minutes later to restore parity for the hosts, Soetan had the final say when he popped up a minute from time.

Goals from Jake King, Sam House, Owen Fee and Ross Bottomley saw Lymington Town register a 4-2 victory over Fareham Town at the Sports Ground.

High-flying Hamworthy United would have been glad to see the back of Horndean this season following their opponents' 4-2 win at the County Ground.

The Deans, 6-0 victors over the Hammers in October, netted through Harry Jackson (2), Mark Smith and a Miles Everett penalty while Dan Cann and Sam Clarke replied.

Elliot Cross's 80th-minute strike settled in favour of Bemerton Heath an uninspiring contest against Bashley at Western Way.
