BOSS Tom Killick has set his sights on reeling in Concord Rangers as Poole Town bid to escape the drop from National South.

The Essex-based Beach Boys are three points ahead of 20th-placed Dolphins who currently occupy the final relegation berth.

Poole tomorrow (Tuesday) visit Concord’s neighbours East Thurrock United with Rangers travelling to improving Chippenham Town (7.45pm).

Killick’s charges head to Rookery Hill on the back of Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat by Bath but also having claimed the scalps of high-fliers Hemel Hempstead and Dartford in two of their past four away games.

Six of Poole’s final nine games are against teams currently in the bottom 10 – including a trip to Canvey Island-based Concord in their penultimate match in April.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “We know time is running out and we are not completely safe from the two teams below us. Bognor, and to lesser extent Whitehawk, are still in touch.

“But when you look above, we have to overhaul one team. I keep identifying who I think that might be but some of the teams have been getting a lot of positive results.

“Hungerford, Eastbourne, Gloucester and Chippenham were all in the equation at one point but Concord are the ones now and they are on a bad run. We still have a chance but it becomes more difficult by the week.”

Previewing the clash against East Thurrock, he added: “In a strange way, we should be full of confidence going into the game because our away form is not just adequate, it is very good, particularly recently.

“There is nothing wrong with us away from home and, if we could win then it would make everything much more achievable.”

Defender Will Spetch is a major doubt with an ankle injury, while Lewis Lindsay and Jack Dickson are still a week away from returning to full fitness.
