ARCH rivals Poole Town and Wimborne Town have been paired together in the semi-final of the Dorset Senior Cup.

Dolphins, currently struggling in National South, are due to host Southern League West Magpies at Black Gold Stadium on Tuesday, February 27 (7.45pm).

Wimborne knocked out Poole in the quarter-final last season, triumphing 4-3 at Tatnam in December before losing to eventual winners Weymouth in the last four.

Poole registered a 2-0 victory over Wimborne in the final in 2014, while the Magpies last lifted the trophy in 1997 when they beat Wareham Rangers.

Wimborne booked their place in the last four by seeing off Gillingham Town 8-2 in the first round and Dorchester Town 2-0 in the quarter-final, while Poole recorded a convincing 10-2 win at Hamworthy United in the last eight.

In the second semi-final, Shaftesbury Town host Portland United in an all-Sydenhams Wessex Premier showdown, with their tie scheduled to take place at Cockrams on February 27.

Portland will be bidding to reach their first final since 1985 when they went down 4-2 after extra-time against Weymouth.

The Terras, who have won the cup for the past three seasons, were beaten by Bridport in the first round with Shaftesbury winning 3-1 against the Bees in the quarter-final.
