HOLDERS Parley Sports bowed out of the Dorset Senior Trophy after a nine-goal thriller at home against Poole Town Development.

A hat-trick from Eder Batista along with two goals from George Turner saw Dolphins through to the last four with a 5-4 win.

Ben Bosley struck twice for Parley and there were also goals for Mat Newbery and Josh Moody.

Holt United progressed to the semi-finals after triumphing 3-1 at Wareham Rangers.

The Bulls moved into a three-goal lead courtesy of two Nathan Saxby strikes and a goal from Luke Homer.

Wareham, who were guilty of squandering numerous efforts throughout, replied through Aaron Merredew.

In the Dorset Premier League, Hamworthy Recreation maintained top spot after a 3-2 victory at home to Merley Cobham Sports.

Both sides began in lively fashion and it was the visitors who went in front on 12 minutes with a headed effort from Ellis George.

But Rec restored parity when Ali Garard smashed home from a corner.

Cobham started the second half brightly and hit the woodwork but the hosts took the lead through Garard’s second.

A Matt Groves penalty restored parity at 2-2 before Rec won it through Chris Long’s glancing header.

Swanage suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bridport reserves at St Mary’s Field.

Despite having a man sent off, the Bees raced into a two-goal lead before half-time against Tim Brown’s men.

Swanage pulled a goal back through Cameron Beard after the break but failed to find an equaliser.

Swans also had Aaron Scott sent off for violent conduct.

Hamworthy United reserves smashed Gillingham Town for six with a 6-1 victory at the County Ground.

Edgar Zanin and Jordan Basing helped themselves to braces and goals also came for the hosts through Sam Carter and Nick Swann.
