MATTY Holmes will hope for a positive response from his Wimborne Town side when they travel to Southern League West leaders Taunton Town tomorrow (7.45pm).

Magpies were beaten 1-0 by Didcot on Saturday, a result which ended an eight-match unbeaten run for the Cuthbury outfit.

A low-scoring win against Taunton would see Wimborne jump to third place in the table, although they would go second with a huge victory.

Boss Holmes will be without injured duo Matt Oldring and Sam Davidson, the latter having been forced off in the defeat to Didcot. Billy Maybury is on holiday.

In Sydenhams Wessex Premier on Saturday, a couple of early goals helped Bashley claim a 2-1 win over visitors Shaftesbury.

Hamworthy United continued their fine away form with a 3-0 triumph at Petersfield Town, Max Buckler, Billy Walker and Eddie Hodge getting on the scoresheet.

Eder Batista and Nasim Meddah were on target for Poppies as they drew 2-2 against Hamble Club. Nathan Lynch and River Smith netted for the away side.

A Will Tickle goal helped Brockenhurst earn a 1-1 draw against Amesbury Town, for whom Jordon Matthews registered.

Lymington Town's trip to Andover Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Wessex One leaders Christchurch shared a goal-less draw with hosts Tadley Calleva, while New Milton lost 1-0 at AFC Stoneham due to a Sergio Caballero effort.

Verwood Town were thumped 5-0 at high fliers Romsey Town with Liam Magee (2), Dan Fox, Harry Draycott and Pearce Farren on target.
