HIGH-flying Merley Cobham Sports were left stunned as they lost 4-2 at bottom side Sherborne Town reserves in the Dorset Premier League.

Sherborne had previously not won in the division all season and there was little sign of a shock when Asa Phillips gave Cobham an early advantage.

But Ben Morris equalised before the break and the hosts took the lead in the second half when Ollie Hebbard found the net.

Craig Royle netted for Sherborne to make it 3-1 and then doubled his tally to virtually end the game as a contest.

Cobham did respond through Lee Wilkins’s late strike but it was not enough as Sherborne ran out comfortable winners.

Wareham Rangers’s dismal season continued as they went down 4-1 at league leaders Dorchester Sports, despite Luke Phillips scoring from the penalty spot.

Hamworthy Recreation thrashed Shaftesbury reserves 6-0 at Magna Road to go second in the table.

Pete Pritchard and Dave Wrixton scored twice to go with goals from Shaun Brian and Chris Long.

Swanage Town & Herston hammered Blandford United 5-1 at Blandford Rec, despite trailing to the Royals after 20 seconds.

Mark Ford scored in rapid time for the hosts but Swanage replied through Aaron Atkinson, Cameron Beard, Graeme Rose and Sam Beale all before half-time.

Rose then completed his brace to seal a comfortable victory for Swans.

A Jack Voisey double could not prevent Parley Sports falling to a 3-2 defeat at home against Westland Sports.

Sam Carter scored four times as Hamworthy United reserves won 6-2 at Bridport reserves.

Nick Patrick and Josh Rose were also on target to send Hammers 10th in the table.
