SWANAGE Town & Herston were hit for six by Sydenhams Wessex Premier Shaftesbury as they crashed out of the Dorset Senior Cup on Wednesday.

Dorset Premier League Swans suffered a 6-0 defeat against their higher-level opposition.

The hosts had an early chance to go ahead in the contest after they were awarded a penalty with the score at 0-0.

But after Swanage’s Graeme Rose saw his spot-kick saved, the visitors took control and surged to a comfortable triumph.

Jack Mitchell and Mali Benjamin both scored twice and Aaron Leney and Lee Gale also got their names on the scoresheet for the Rockies, who are set to face Western League Premier Bridport in the last eight.

Swanage were also forced to play the latter stages a man light after Matt Beard was carried off with a hamstring problem.

In Wessex One, goals from Kieran Douglas and Matt Neale helped Christchurch record a 2-0 victory over Hythe & Dibden at Hurn Bridge.

Victory means Ollie Cherrett’s men are just one point behind leaders Laverstock & Ford with two games in hand.

Priory, who have won eight of their 12 league clashes so far, make the trip to Verwood Town tomorrow (3pm).
