SWANAGE Town & Herston boss Tim Brown says spirits are high in the camp ahead of Saturday's FA Vase second qualifying round clash with Fawley at Day's Park.

Swans, one of the lowest-ranked clubs left in the competition, set up a meeting with the Wessex One outfit after defeating Combined Counties League Ash United 4-3 a fortnight ago.

In an absorbing contest, which went to extra-time, Swans snatched victory in the last minute when Aaron Scott netted to spark jubilant scenes.

Swans currently top the Dorset Premier League and Brown says they are full of confidence going into the tie against the Oilers (3pm).

“The lads are buzzing,” said Brown.

“We are really looking forward to the game and the most pleasing aspect from my point of view is that there is more to come from the team.

“We defeated Ash without playing that well and, in the league, we have gone top despite only playing at 60 per cent.

“We don’t know an awful lot about Fawley, but if we play like I know we can, then we are more than capable of causing another upset.”

The teams will be chasing £725 in prize money, while the losers bank £250.

Also in the second qualifying round, there is an all-Sydenhams Wessex Premier clash at the County Ground where Hamworthy United lock horns with Lymington, while Bashley host Wessex One Hythe & Dibden.

Poppies visit Romsey, Brockenhurst travel to Combined Counties Premier Division Godalming and Ringwood head to Hellenic League Division One East outfit Sandhurst.

Wessex One high-fliers Christchurch visit Western League Division One table-toppers Westbury United.

Priory head west in good form after Max Wilcock netted a double in their 4-3 win at Fareham in the second round of the Hampshire Senior Cup last night.

Striker Richard Gillespie, who is dual registered from Poole Town, also found the net in the first half as the visitors led 3-1 at the break.

And despite Fareham scoring twice in the second half through Scott Hamilton and Sammy-Lee Kessack, an own goal ensured Ollie Cherrett’s men would progress to the third round.

In Wessex One, Verwood entertain Totton & Eling.
