PRIORY boss Ollie Cherrett is excited to help striker Richard Gillespie get fit and firing.

The Poole Town hotshot is set to link up with Christchurch on a short term dual-registration deal.

He will go into Cherrett’s squad for their Wessex One clash with Totton & Eling tomorrow (3pm).

And the Hurn Bridge manager, who played with Gillespie during the frontman’s record-breaking spell at Bashley, is ecstatic to have him on board.

Cherrett, who wished to thank Dolphins boss Tom Killick and Poole Town for agreeing the deal, told the Daily Echo: “For us to be able to bring someone like Richard in is a massive coup for me and for the club.

“It came about that Gillie was looking to get some minutes and it works for us over the next three weeks.

“He is coming for the right reasons. His goal is to get fit, score goals and get himself ready to quite rightly go and play at a higher level.

“The situation works for all parties. With his experience and goalscoring ability, we would be naïve not to take the opportunity up.

“I am not stupid enough to think that we will have him for a longer period of time, it is going to be a few weeks to help him get match fit.”

Cherrett confirmed Chris Senior could be in contention to play a further part tomorrow having fully trained this week.

The Priory central defender, who has been dealing with a range of injury problems since the start of the season, featured for 15 minutes during the 4-1 win over Folland Sports last time out.

The manager added: “Chris is our club captain and is a massive part of what we are trying to achieve.

“He knows the league, he’s been with us now for nearly 18 months and is an experienced player.

“He will bring that experience to the pitch and I think we have missed him.

“To welcome back players like that is going to strengthen us, that’s the most important thing.”

Grant Cormack and Will Robinson are also set to return, while Will Gage remains out.

In Wessex Premier tomorrow, Bashley host reigning champions Portland United, while Poppies make the trip to Fareham Town (all 3pm).
