POOLE Town manager Tom Killick has given the green light to winger Luke Burbidge joining neighbours Wimborne Town.

Burbidge will link up with the Magpies on a month's loan and could make his debut when they host Southern League West high-fliers Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday.

The former Cherries apprentice featured in Poole's first seven National South games of the season but has not been involved in the past two.

Burbidge joined the Dolphins from Hamworthy United in June 2012 and returned to the club following a brief spell with Weymouth in 2013.

He featured prominently in Poole's Southern League title-winning campaign in 2015-16 and missed just four games in their debut season in National South.

Poole boss Killick told the Daily Echo: "Luke felt he wasn’t enjoying his football so, in the situation we are in, it made sense for him to perhaps try something else.

"He was keen to go to Wimborne and they were keen to have him so we decided it was something which should be done. He has gone there for a month."

Meanwhile, Killick also confirmed Portsmouth loanee Jez Bedford would remain at the Black Gold Stadium for the rest of the season.

However, Bedford's Pompey team-mate Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain, who spent the first month of the season on loan with Poole, has joined Oxford City.
