OLLIE Cherrett hailed the spirit of his Christchurch charges after they pulled off a shock 3-2 Hampshire Senior Cup victory over Baffins Milton Rovers.

Ollie King, a goalkeeper for the club’s development side, was forced to play 85 minutes up front for the hosts at Hurn Bridge after Will Gage was forced off early with an ankle problem.

Priory were 2-0 down having conceded from two first-half corners but goals from Jack Satterley and Max Wilcock got them back on level terms before the break.

And Satterley struck the winner in the second period, setting up a second-round tie at Fareham Town on Tuesday, September 19.

Cherrett said: “My lads were absolutely superb. They don’t understand the words ‘give up’.

“They worked their socks off. I was so proud of every single one of them.”

Priory will now switch their focus to Wessex One action tomorrow, when they make the trip to Alton.

Elsewhere in the division, Verwood Town host Romsey Town and New Milton Town are at home against AFC Stoneham. Ringwood Town travel to Hythe & Dibden.

In Wessex Premier, Bashley host Bemerton Heath Harlequins and Poppies take on Baffins Milton Rovers at Victoria Park.

Lymington make the trip to Hamble Club, while Hamworthy United are at home against Fareham Town. Brockenhurst host Petersfield Town (all 3pm).
