MATTY Holmes lamented a "really frustrating night" as Wimborne Town crashed out of the FA Cup to Wessex League opposition for the fifth time in six years.

Magpies missed out on £1,925 in prize money after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Andover Town at Cuthbury, the chance to host Western League Cadbury Heath and play for £3,000 in first round qualifying evaporating in the process.

Dan Cann had put Wimborne in front when he slotted home following Toby Holmes's cross but after the break an Andover penalty and a further goal swung the tie in the visitors' favour.

Boss Matty Holmes told the Daily Echo: "It was really disappointing.

"We asked the boys for a reaction defensively and we dominated the first half – I don't think they had a shot on goal. We went in 1-0 up and missed loads of chances.

"In the second half we gave a penalty away but kept going and then Stef (Penny) got caught and their lad lobbed Gerard (Benfield), who did not have much to do all game other than pick the ball out of the net twice.

"It was a really frustrating night. We just couldn't see them off."
