BOSS Ollie Cherrett believes Christchurch are huge underdogs going into their Hampshire Senior Cup first round clash with Baffins Milton Rovers at Hurn Bridge tonight (7.45pm).

Baffins, who were promoted from Wessex One last season, have started with four league wins out of six in Wessex Premier – a level above Christchurch.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Cherrett, who is hoping to have Chris Senior fit, told the Daily Echo: “Everyone will be expecting us to get absolutely hammered. Baffins are a good, strong, big side.

“They beat Bashley 5-0 on Saturday and went top of Wessex Premier – no-one will give us a chance.

“But these are the days that if they don’t play to their potential, have one or two missing or leave one or two out, we can pick up and have a go.

“But being sensible about it, it is going to be a very tough game and, if we were to get anything from it, it would be unbelievable.”

The winners face a trip to Fareham Town in the second round.

Ringwood Town visit Wessex One rivals Folland Sports in the first round of the Hampshire Senior Cup with a trip to Blackfield & Langley up awaiting the victors.

Poppies will travel to either Lymington Town or Horndean following their emphatic 5-0 win at Team Solent in the first round last night.
