A CROWD of 260 were entertained by a closely-fought derby which was marred by a serious injury to Bashley striker Dan Munday who was taken to hospital with a broken collarbone.

There was little to choose between the teams and the battle was confined to midfield rather than the goalmouth.

After an even first 20 minutes, Bashley dominated the rest of the first half.

But apart from an overhead kick by Rae’mur Henry and another from the lively Kabba Jack, there was little evidence that either team would score.

The visitors changed that within three minutes of the second half when Mitchell Speechley-Price did his former club no favours with a devastating run and shot from 20 yards that gave Mike Edgar in the home goal little chance.

The game was now well and truly on with Bashley changing to long-ball tactics which brought a string of corners most of which were cleared by the dominant Brock captain and centre-back Matt Burt.

Bashley rang the changes calling on all subs, the last being the unfortunate Munday who was just back from a groin injury.

There were chances at both ends with Dan Thomson’s fierce drive from distance quickly spotted by the diving Taylor being the best.
