CHRISTCHURCH kicked off their Wessex One campaign in impressive style with a 2-0 win at Weymouth reserves.

Priory opened the scoring on 23 minutes when a long throw was flicked on and Jon Blake was there to tap in at the back post.

Four minutes after the break, Ollie Cherrett’s men made it 2-0.

Grant Cormack won back possession and Max Wilcock played in striker Luke Stone to finish well and score his second goal in as many games.

Speaking after the success, Hurn Bridge boss Cherrett said: “I was very pleased indeed.

“For me, it was a massive plus and a great start to our league campaign.

“To go there and get three points in the manner we did was very pleasing and starts us off on the right foot.”

Priory will be looking for back-to-back victories when they travel to Whitchurch United tomorrow (3pm). Wilcock is unavailable.

“It’s important we go there with the right attitude and build on the confidence we have,” Cherrett added.

Also in Wessex One, Verwood Town host East Cowes Vics at Potterne Park, while New Milton entertain Folland Sports.

In Wessex Premier, Hamworthy United take on Newport at the County Ground, while Poppies visit Horndean.

Lymington Town make the trip to Shaftesbury, while Brockenhurst are at Alresford Town (all 3pm).
