CHAIRMAN Chris Reeves confirmed Poole Town had brought in three new recruits ahead of Saturday's National South opener at Weston-super-Mare.

Boss Tom Killick has swooped to capture 18-year-old central defender Joe Cook, previously on the books at Sheffield Wednesday.

Midfielder Jack Dickson has also agreed a 12-month deal at the Black Gold Stadium, following a spell on a soccer scholarship in America.

Former Cherries youngster Matt Neale has also signed up for the campaign. The winger spent time on loan at Wimborne Town last season.

Speaking about Cook, Reeves told the Daily Echo: “He has had a few minutes in our pre-season friendlies and looks very competent.

“He is a player that we have very high hopes for.

“If the situation with Sam Surridge that we had last year is anything to go by, then there is a certain type of player who will just get better and better with more men’s football he plays.”

On 20-year-old Dickson’s return, Reeves added: “He is an extremely talented player. He is well known to our supporters because he has been with us for a number of years.

“He was only able to be with us for the first few weeks of last season and we watched him go reluctantly.

“But he is now back in the UK permanently, hence why we have been able to sign him on a contract.”
