BOSS Matty Holmes knows Wimborne will need to be on their mettle as they look to consolidate their position in the top 10 of the Division One South & West table.

Back-to-back wins against Wantage and Shortwood have significantly boosted Magpies’ chances of recording their Southern League-best finish – which currently stands at 12th in 2013.

But Holmes is aware their credentials will face another stiff examination when they visit North Leigh tomorrow, with their hosts one point and one place below 10th-placed Wimborne.

Magpies will be bidding to complete the double over the Oxfordshire outfit having triumphed 3-2 following a see-saw affair at Cuthbury on Bonfire Night.

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “We are preparing for another tough encounter. We had a good game against them at home and they were a handful. I think they have got a few new players in since then.

“Away games are always tricky in this league but we are full of confidence at the moment.

“We should have a couple of players back and will go there full of fighting spirit.

“We have won two games on the spin and the boys are full of beans and energy so, hopefully, we can keep it going against North Leigh.”

Dan Cann could return to the Wimborne squad after missing the midweek win at Shortwood due to flu.
